Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This page is maintained by BiteFrame's publisher to explain, in plain language, what data the application processes and why. It does not constitute an independent certification.

1. Who processes your data

BiteFrame is a photo-based nutrition tracking application published from Belgium. The publisher acts as data controller within the meaning of the GDPR. For any question or request, contact the support address shown in the application.

2. Data we process

  • Account: email address and identifier provided via email, Google or Apple login.
  • Profile: goal, activity level, preferred cuisines, weight entered for calorie estimation.
  • Photos: pictures of meals, fridge/cupboards, barcodes and labels that you voluntarily take in the application.
  • Journal: logged meals, macros, hydration, exercise sessions, badges.
  • Conversations with the Coach: messages you send to the assistant.
  • Technical data: error logs and local preferences stored in your browser (active tab, reminders, hydration).

3. Camera and photos

Camera access is requested only when you open a capture screen. The video feed is analyzed on your device to trigger automatic capture; only the image you capture is sent for analysis. Photos are used solely to recognize the dish, ingredients or label and to illustrate your journal. They are never used for advertising purposes nor resold.

4. Purposes and legal bases

  • Providing the service and your nutrition journal — performance of the contract.
  • Recognition of dishes, labels and recipes — performance of the contract.
  • Reminders and notifications — your consent, revocable at any time.
  • Security, abuse prevention and bug fixing — legitimate interest.

5. Processors and sharing

We rely on technical providers to host the database and authentication, run AI image analysis, and — for barcode scanning — query the public Open Food Facts database. These providers process data on our behalf, according to our instructions. No data is sold to third parties.

6. Retention

Your meals, photos and preferences are kept as long as your account is active. You can delete an entry at any time from the history. Upon account deletion, associated data is erased or anonymized within a reasonable period, unless a legal retention obligation applies.

7. Your rights

You have a right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. You can exercise these rights by writing to us from your account's email address. You may also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

8. Local storage

The application stores certain preferences in your browser's local storage (session, active tab, reminders, hydration, Coach messages). No advertising cookie or marketing tracker is used. Clearing your browser storage erases these preferences.

9. Changes

This policy may evolve along with the application. The last update date appears at the top of the page.
